GUEST SPEAKER, JEROME MARTIN (AUGUST 24 MEETING)
On Monday, August 24 at noon, our very own Jerome Martin shared with us a compelling talk based around Storytelling.
His presentation was about stories - understanding them, working with them, enjoying them, learning from them, and changing our lives and our organizations by using them effectively.
He spoke to us about about storytelling, told a few stories, and shared ideas on why storytelling is probably the most important way that we communicate.
We tell stories to describe ourselves, not only so others can understand who we are but also so we can understand ourselves. We share our stories with others in part because it helps us to make sense of them. Until we share them they are not complete, just as paintings or photographs are not complete unless they are shared with an audience. Stories and storytelling are as old as the human race. Storytellers told the stories of their people, their history, and their art so that they would not be forgotten. We still do that.

HOW CAN WE HELP?
This is a very difficult time for so many people around the world, but there are still many ways we can help from the safety of our homes. This is one of them:
Believe in Belize is a non-profit run completely by volunteers locally in Belize. They have recently put out a request for individual donations to aid in the COVID-19 medical efforts in Belize and they have committed to 100% of the donations received from April - August 2020 going to support Belizeans dealing with the aftermath of the Coronavirus pandemic.
