Julie Strome is Program Director for Pathways to Housing, a program of Radius Health (formerly the Boyle-Macaulay Health Centre). Pathways to Housing (P2H) offers dedicated support for indivduals transitioning from houselessness. Pathways aims to provide a sustainable solution to houselessness by providing chronically homelss individuals with support needed to overcome systemic barriers, such as serious mental illness and addition. P2H was added to Radius’s array of programs and services in 2009. Both the Government of Alberta and the City of Edmonton identified “Pathways to Housing” as a key strategy in their respective ’10 Year Plan to End Homelessness’, and Radius with its expertise and successful history of delivering Primary Health Care and Health Promotion programs for the previous 30 years to the target population, was the logical choice to implement the program in Edmonton. Pathways to Housing specifically targets chronically homeless persons who are disabled by serious mental illness and addiction, made even more complex with a multitude of health and social issues. Julie is pleased to have the opportunity to tell members of our Club more about the program and discuss ways our Club and its members can support P2H's vital mission.

| 2026-03-30 00:00:00Z | Mar. 29, 2026 | Chelsea Letwin | Project Amigo | Mar. 30, 2026 |
Our guest speaker will be Chelsea Letwin. Chelsea has been a Rotaractor since 2022, and the president of Northern Lights Rotaract since 2024. Their club committed early on to taking part in an international service project every three years. Project Amigo became the first milestone in that commitment. To make this possible, they have hosted an annual Mexican Fiesta fundraiser, and through that effort were able to send three club members to the Literature and Culture Week from February 1–8. Chelsea's connection to the project comes from helping build the momentum behind those fundraisers and seeing how meaningful the experience was for those who attended. During the presentation, they plan to share a short segment of a video from the trip, as it captures the energy, learning, and community spirit of the week in a way that truly brings the experience to life |

Longtime Downtown Rotarian Brent Abbott will be our guest speaker. He will give us an update on our neighbour here on Kingsway Avenue, the Alberta Aviation Museum. The Royal Canadian Air Force built the aircraft hangar that houses the museum during the Second World War for the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan. It is the only double-long, double-wide hangar of its type left. The BCATP gathered men and women from the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand to train pilots, navigators, and other aircrew to support the Allied war effort. The Alberta Aviation Museum Association incorporated in 1980 as a group of aviation and history enthusiasts and occupied temporary facilities at the Edmonton Municipal Airport through the 1980s. In 1990 the Association partnered with a diverse group of other like-minded aviation groups, under the leadership of the Edmonton Aviation Heritage Society, who approached the City of Edmonton about leasing the Hangar on Kingsway. The tireless efforts of the Edmonton Aviation Heritage Society’s volunteers paid off, and they cleaned up the old hangar and moved into their permanent home in 1991. Over the years, thousands of dedicated volunteers have worked on an iconic collection of more than 30 aircraft, including many ground-up restorations. With the closure of the airport, the museum moved into a new phase, becoming the historic cornerstone of the new Blatchford community. In 2019, the Society signed a new 25-year lease with the City of Edmonton, and are embarking on a major revitalization to better tell Edmonton’s exciting flying history to a whole new generation. |
